Volunteers
We are asking for help. Over the years, your elected board has done most of the heavy lifting to promote the mission of our Society and to accomplish the tasks that go into our events, activities, and tasks. Your membership indicates you support the mission of the Society: To bring about the dissemination of knowledge regarding, and public awareness of, science and technology, in Tallahassee and its environs. We encourage you to volunteer to serve on a committee, which may mean simply bringing ideas to the table. We need hands-on volunteers who can spare a few hours in a year to work publicity tables, help with receptionist duties at sponsored…

Science Education for Teens
Last year your society started a new program in partnership with the Leon County Public Library and the Leon County Public Schools. The objective is to make our teens aware of science and its application to every day life. The program is called the 2nd Saturday Science Lab and is held once a month at the Leroy Collins (downtown) Public Library’s program room. It starts at 2:00 pm and lasts one to 1 and 1/2 hours and consists of a presentation by a scientist and a hands-on lab. The lab involves the ideas presented in the lecture.
