2021 Horizons Speaker Series presents, “Rachel Carson and the Wonder of Nature,” with Dr. Frederick Davis

Low tide, Rachel Carson Salt Pool Preserve, New Harbor, Maine Source: Nature Conservancy Please join us for the second event in the 2021 Horizons Speaker Series on Thursday February 18 at 6:00. Dr. Frederick Davis is Chair and Professor of History, and the R. Mark Lubbers Chair in History of Science at Purdue University. The title of his talk is, ” Rachel Carson and the Wonder of Nature.” Rachel Carson’s bestselling exposé of the ecological and health risks of chemical pesticides arguably started the US environmental movement. Her comprehensive work addressed national, global environmental issues, including extensive research in Florida. Carson’s work led to the banning of DDT in the US, while this might be the most notable outcome of her work, the breadth of her message holds much more widespread importance. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81493181900?pwd=OTFIc1djTVFjTkN2dkErKytqaVlpZz09 passcode Z35vA
