Neighborhood Camp Fairs

MagLab research scientist and new TSS Board member Ilya Litvak began organizing “camp fairs” in 2019 as an opportunity for families to learn about affordable or free summer science camps. Tallahassee is home to a number of extracurricular STEAM activities and summer camps, many of which are available free of charge or provided as need-based scholarships. Ilya saw a need to connect vendors of these STEAM summer programs with underserved families, thus forming “The Neighborhood Camp Fair Project.” TSS is looking forward to working with Ilya to advance summer science opportunities in our community.

Two Neighborhood Camp Fair events are held at neighborhood schools where school-age students and their families meet STEAM summer program vendors and find out all they need to register for camps and learn about internship opportunities.

  • An event for grades 6-12 will be held March 1st at Fairview Middle School. This Neighborhood Internship Fair has a focus on internship opportunities as well as pre-college summer programs at TSC, FSU, and FAMU. See TSS Calendar of Events.

  • A second event for grades K-8 will be held March 22nd at Pineview Elementary School. This event will feature an indoor science and arts festival where camp vendors provide hands-on activities to encourage student participation in their respective camps. Students and their families learn about camps, enjoy a day of science, and find camp registration information. See TSS Calendar of Events.

The Fairs are free and open to the public. Vendor participation is also free of charge.  Visit this link for more information about previous vendors.

HORIZONS 2025!
