Master Craftsman Studio – wanna peak inside?
Master Craftsman Studio (MCS) is a unique university auxiliary associated with Florida State University’s Facilities Department. MCS is a self-sustaining studio whose artists are experts in bronze sculpture, stained glass, furniture construction, and restoration. Specializing in creating one-of-a-kind custom art pieces throughout FSU campus such as the “Declaration” art piece at the Woodward and Gaines St. round-about. (Image on the left, below.)
The magnetically levitating sculpture “Maggie,” (above, center) was created by the MCS, and made possible through a collaboration between FSU, City of Tallahassee, and the National Maglab. The design and unique levitational feature serves to establish Tallahassee as the “Magnetic Capital of the World.” We will learn the history of MCS and the relation to FSU and the community. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the processes and the main studio on June 20th at 11AM. Additional spaces have been added with priority to current members. Register here.
Florida Caverns State Park at Marianna
If you haven’t been to the Florida Caverns lately, or ever, this is your chance. Cool air, the sound of dripping water, a visual array of mystifying stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and draperies – greets visitors exploring the otherworldly depths of Florida Caverns. Our tour will be led by a Florida Park Ranger who can help us understand how this underground world was formed and continues to evolve. There will be a fee to this event. The amount will be determined by the number of participants and communicated to you closer to the tour date. Expect a $15-$20 fee/person. July 11th at 10AM. This is not a free event. The charge will depend if we have at least 20 people. So please bring friends and family! Register here for free on Eventbright!

A Fun Candy-Making Demonstration at Lofty Pursuits
We had a good crowd at Lofty Pursuits Friday May 23rd learing about the effects of water and temperture in the hard candy making process. The two candy-makers wowed us with their skill in handling molten candy and forming the elaborate design of an American flag to honor the Memorial Day holiday.
FSU Coastal and Marine Laboratory
FSUCML is a jewel on the nearby coast at St. Teresa Beach. They conduct research to optimize marine management and conservation by studying sea creatures in their habitats. They invite the public to come and explore the coastal environment at one of their workshops called “Evening at the Edge of the Sea.” Upcoming events are Saturday June 21st and July 19th. While this is not a TSS event, we encourage you to go! Reserve a spot HERE!
