Please join us for a private tour of two prized programs at the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering. The first stop will be the Florida Center for Advance Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP) for the first hour (2-3) and the second will be the Center of Intelligent, Systems, Control, Operations, and Robotics (CISCOR) for the second hour (3-4) The tour is free with priority given to current members but please register HERE or contact tss@tallysci.org for more information.

What you will be introduced to:

• The principal focus of FCAAP is on aerospace and aviation research and technology, and FCAAP’s efforts in this industry are having a major impact on Florida and the entire nation. In 2011, FCAAP became an FAA Center of Excellence for Commercial Space Transportation Research. Congress authorized Air Transportation Centers of Excellence under the Federal Aviation Administration Research, Engineering and Development Authorization Act of 1990. This legislation enables the FAA to work with universities and their industry partners to conduct research in environment and aviation safety, and other activities to assure a safe and efficient air transportation system. Research will extend to cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure for private human spaceflight and orbital debris mitigation. FCAAP includes a wide array of state of the art laboratories and facilities that will be see and learn about, listed HERE. Our tour guide for FCAAP will Dr. Alex Karns, Research Engineer. 
• The vision of CISCOR is to use state-of-the-art technology to develop practical solutions to problems in systems, control, and robotics for applications in industry and government. CISCOR faculty come from Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Statistics and provide expertise such as mechanical design, dynamic modeling, control, artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, and computer vision. Known for its state-of-the-art research—especially in animal-like movements—CISCOR is a leader in cutting-edge studies of movement and replication of it by artificial means. Our tour guide will be Dr. Christian Hubicki, who studies the science and engineering of walking and running. His research on how robots get around in human environments teaches a lot about how people balance and walk and run. Hubicki will use all of this information to create devices that assist people who have lost the ability to walk to help them walk again. This ultimately takes the form of exoskeletons and prosthetics that are smarter and more useful for those who need them.
