K-12 Professional Learning Extravaganza! June 9-11

A continuing education opportunity for our Leon County School teachers. Participants will learn new innovative approaches to teaching science, technology, engineering, and math.

Presenters from the FSU Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences will join expert math and science teachers from Leon County School District.

Join us at the Blue Tavern to hear from Chris Matechik of Tall Timbers Research Station & Land Conservancy. He spends his time trying to understand our changing world as a GIS and Remote Sensing Specialist. Beverages and menu available. (He is also as well-known banjo player about town and a farmer.)

Mammals are Overrated: The Science and Wonder of Birds

Julie Wraithmell had us in stitches trying to convert mammal-lovers into bird lovers. She had wonderful pictures of both! She is a scientist at heart and shared some of her experiences with an appreciative crowd. Read about her here if you’re not familiar with her contributions to conservation biology.
